Though she honed her creativity at Central Saint Martins, Louisa Ballou has never lost the coastal spirit of her native South Carolina. Having grown up on its subtropical beaches, the designer channels a childhood full of surfing and swimming when creating her collections, which have been spotted on Dua Lipa, Bella Hadid, Sofia Richie and more. Vibrant, painterly prints are her forte, citing a myriad of artistic inspirations from Mark Rothko to Pierre Soulages, while her risqué cut-outs and metal-ring details are designed to make you feel your most sensuous self.

Returning to Harrods this season, retro icon Pucci has re-established itself as a resortwear staple under the stewardship of new creative director Camille Miceli. True to its roots, print and colour remains at the heart of this heritage Italian brand, known for its psychedelic patterns that became a favourite of the jet set in the ’60s. Today, a library of swirling prints appears across swimwear and kaftans as well as slip dresses and co-ords for beach and beyond. Its penchant for pigment has even caught the eye of Beyoncé, who wore a custom Pucci catsuit on her Renaissance world tour last September.

Vogue stylist turned designer, Pippa Holt discovered her love of the kaftan when she moved to the sweltering heat of Houston, Texas, retiring her London wardrobe in the process. The brand collaborates with a rural weaving community of approximately 200 artisans in Mexico, who employ a generations-old technique and use only naturally dyed cotton to craft each piece. Every unique kaftan takes one month to make – a testament to the craft – while Holt herself heads up the design process from her home in Dublin. Chic, colourful, breezy and adaptable, there’s little else you’ll want to wear on a blisteringly hot day.
