The mark of someone who knows what they’re doing. So, hang up your boots – here are three shoe styles that will instantly bring your wardrobe into the here and now as we head into the warmer months.
The Pointed Toe
This classy silhouette has been spearheading the footwear scene over recent seasons, with Miu Miu’s strappy slingbacks becoming an instant hit off the runway for Autumn/Winter 2023. This year, you’d be hard pressed to find a fashion house that isn’t trying its hand at the trend, prominent at Prada, Gucci, Saint Laurent, Ferragamo and more. Mule or slingback, kitten heel or sky-high stiletto – the knife-sharp toe is chic in every scenario, whether partnering a dress for summer occasions or paring down a pair of loose-cut jeans.
The Ballet Flat
A comfortable counterpart to point-toe stilettos, the equally elegant ballet flat remains at the forefront for Spring/Summer 2024. But it’s not as twee as it sounds. From Valentino Garavani’s fishnet and Le Monde Beryl’s sheer mesh to Alaïa’s studding and Versace’s metallic shine, today’s take on the style is edgier than its name would suggest.
The Strappy Sandal
Sun’s out, toes out. Where recent summers have been dominated by ‘grandad’ sandals and chunky platforms, the runways riffed on the return to flat shoes with something a little more ladylike for 2024. Elevated flip flops and strappy sandals set the tone for a chic summer at Hermès, CHANEL, Miu Miu and more, playing into fashion’s current fondness for ’90s minimalism.
