OUR COMMUNITY

Creating long-term change within our local communities.

We’re committed to driving positive social and environmental change and creating opportunities for our colleagues to make a lasting impact. By harnessing the strength and breadth of the global Harrods network and working with carefully selected charity partners, we aim to make a meaningful difference in the communities we serve. Creating opportunity, inspiring creativity and protecting the environment helps us play our part in securing a healthy planet and better future for generations to come.

Our Partners and Employee Volunteering

We have supported a variety of charities over the years through volunteering, payroll giving, in-kind support and dedicated fundraising campaigns. To support our new Community Pillar strategy, we have established five key partnerships with national charities and local community partners: The Prince’s Trust, WEST Youth Zone, The British Red Cross, St Cuthbert’s Centre and Albrighton Community Fridge.

  • NSPCC Partnership

    The Prince's Trust

The Prince’s Trust helps young people aged 11–30 from disadvantaged communities and those facing the greatest adversity by supporting them to build the confidence and skills to live, learn and earn. The charity was founded in 1976 by HM King Charles III and has since helped more than a million young people across the UK, and even more globally via Prince’s Trust International, through their range of programmes, mentorship and financial support. Harrods colleagues have the opportunity to fundraise or volunteer for the Prince’s Trust and make a direct impact on the lives of young people worldwide.

  • St Cuthbert’s Partnership

    WEST Youth Zone

OnSide’s Youth Zones provide state-of-the-art facilities and activities for young people across the UK aged 8–19 (up to 25 for those with disabilities). Each hub offers everything from sports, art and music classes to employability training and mentoring programmes, with the aim of helping young people reach their full potential through learning and personal development. We have partnered with the WEST Youth Zone, which opened in Hammersmith and Fulham in April 2024.

The WEST Youth Zone offers young people from West London and beyond access to over 20 evening activities for just £5 a year or 50p per visit. It is staffed by skilled and dedicated youth workers who truly believe in the potential of the young people in our community.

    The British Red Cross

We have been supporting The British Red Cross since March 2023 through regular donations of surplus stock, including clothing, accessories, beauty products and homeware. The British Red Cross provides vital support to individuals and communities in crisis worldwide. Their work encompasses a range of areas, including emergency response, disaster relief, health and social care and refugee services. They offer assistance during natural disasters, conflicts and public health emergencies, providing immediate relief and long-term support to those affected. The funds raised through Harrods donations, which are sold in-store and online, support and enable The British Red Cross to deliver essential aid in areas of need across the world.

  • Cuthberts

    St Cuthbert’s Centre

We are long-standing supporters of St Cuthbert’s Centre, a community hub based in Earl’s Court which tackles homelessness, isolation and food waste in the local community. The centre provides counselling services, housing advice, laundry facilities and more, with the aim of supporting the dignity and wellbeing of those in need. In 2023, the centre had 1,108 unique users of the service and 11,585 visits. Harrods colleagues can volunteer to help out with the centre’s daily lunch service, or offer their unique skills to support the charity in other ways that meet their needs.

    Albrighton Community Fridge

The Albrighton Community Fridge was set up by the Albrighton Community Centre in 2018 to support the South-East London community and reduce food waste among local retailers. In March 2020, the centre expanded its services to become a COVID-19 Food Hub, and today the fridge provides food and other essentials to an average of 350 households per week. The fridge offers everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to hot meals, tinned goods and toiletries. The Harrods partnership began during the pandemic and has since continued, with volunteers from Albrighton collecting surplus food from our Food Halls every evening. Since the partnership began, we have donated over 66 tonnes of surplus bread, charcuterie, patisserie and fresh produce to the centre. Harrods colleagues can also volunteer at the Community Fridge, sorting and prepping donations or helping service users.

    Harrods Charity Days

Each year, we give every colleague an additional day of paid leave to volunteer with a charity of their choice. Our colleagues often volunteer with our charity partners or take part in our annual group volunteering opportunities such as the plastic fishing trip with the environmental charity Hubbub, collecting plastic from the London Docklands waterways. In 2023, our people spent 193 days volunteering with charities close to their hearts and communities.
